Students forum

2012/04: 10th International EAS Student Forum, The Hague (Netherlands)

We are very pleased to announce that there will be a international EAS Student Forum in 2012, which is to take place on the 17th – 20th of April 2012 prior to the main EAS-Conference. This Student forum will be jubilant - in the last ten years many students joined the event. They worked together on special topics, shared musical materials and knowledge, presented music educational context and music teacher training systems in different European countries, enjoyed concerts and accompanied programmes and presented their thoughts, statements and ideas at the related EAS conferences.

Nominations EAS Forum 2012

28 students from the following countries are nominated to take part in the student forum:

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Switserland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Theme

The theme of the 10th Student Forum will be “Teacher as a musician – school perspective”, which is linked with the 20th EAS conference.

There will be three elements to the programme:

  1. Practical and creative music making through sharing examples of musical activities and repertoire from their own context and creating new music together.
  2. Discussion focused on the theme of the Forum and sharing of the students’ different experiences and perspectives of learning to become a teacher in their own school system.
  3. Participation in the workshops and independent group work for final presentation at the EAS Conference.

Students will gain insights into each others’ ideas, approaches in music education and the school contexts of their countries, to discover common ground in their knowledge and understanding; and come away with new friends, a better awareness of their own context, and a place in the EAS network.
