Open Day 2012

You can already write the following date in your diary: 11 February 2012 is the Open Day of the Royal Conservatoire.

During the Open Day of the Royal Conservatoire there is an uninterrupted programme music and dance throughout the entire building. There are public lessons, rehearsals and group presentations. In the halls and studios a varied programme has been put together of performances and concerts which are given by children, pupils, students and teachers.

During the Open Day the Royal Conservatoire not only looks at the musical past, but expressly towards the future through the creative departments of the Royal Conservatoire: the Composition Department which not only concentrates on instrumental music but also on electronics, theatrical elements and improvisation, the Institute for Sonology which is involved with electronic music, algorithmic composition and sound analysis, and the Interfaculty ArtScience, which builds bridges between media arts, fine art and music theatre. In their own ways these departments give content to the tradition of renown which the Royal Conservatoire has in the field of the creative arts. As well as this there are special tours for those who are interested in the technical and/or electronic side of music, and visitors can become involved in the interactive demonstrations done in our well equipped sound studios.

Talented musicians who are interested in studying at the Royal Conservatoire have the chance to play or sing for a variety of teachers during the Open Day. Younger visitors who want to come to the conservatoire can take a look behind the scenes of the training for small children and the School for Young Talent. During the Open Day the pupils of the School for Young Talent follow the programme of a ‘normal’ school day, whereby all of the classrooms and dance studios are open to the public.
