University of the Arts, The Haguethe Royal Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts were fused into the Academy of Fine Arts, Music and Dance on January 1 1990. Since 2010 the name of the Academy is changed into the University of the Arts, The Hague. The Royal Conservatory (RC) is the faculty of Music and Dance and the KABK is the faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Both faculties together take care of Interfaculty ArtScience and the School for Young Talent. The daily conduct of the University is in hands of the Board of Directors. Besides the Board of Directors there is also a Supervisory Board. Board of Directors The Board of Directors (BoD) are the licensed authorities and responsible for the education, organisation and conduct of the University. The BoD consists of chairman Jack Verduyn Lunel, who is also the director of the Royal Acdemy of Arts, Frans de Ruiter, and Royal Conservatory director Henk van der Meulen. Arthur Gieles is the secretary. The BoD is accountable to the Supervisory Board. Both the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors can be reached through the Central Bureau of the University.
Central Bureau The Central Bureau executes the secretariate of the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board. The Central Bureau has two departments: the department of Staff and Organisation and the department of Financial Matters. The Central Bureau is housed in the Academy, on the second floor of the Bleijenburg building. Annelique Offers tends to the secreatariate. The Central Bureau can be reached at: secrcvb@kabk.nl. Staff and Organisation The department of Staff and Organisation consists of Margot Bebseler, head of the department, and the S&O staffmembers Dolf van der Haar, Paulette Gubbels and Rana Lachman. The department is located on the second floor of the Bleijenburg building. S&O arranges everything concerning hiring new staffmembers and ensuring that the policies on the collective labour agreement and other arrangements are informed upon as well as enforced. Participation Council Participation in the University' policy can be arranged through conference with the Participation Council. The Council consists of chosen representatives. These representatives come from the following levels:
The members of the Participation Council are elected for two years. The Council may confer on all aspects concerning the University and can make suggestions and notions public. Both faculties have their own Participation Councils, in which the groups mentioned above are also represented. The BoD may ask advice from just one of the Councils in some matters, and in other matters the BoD needs the approval of the Participation Council.
