The Hague Philharmonic (Residentie Orkest) and the Royal Conservatoire offer a unique specialisation, the 'Orchestra Master'. Students admitted to the regular 2-year master’s programme of the Royal Conservatoire can audition for this specialisation. At the end of the first year of the programme, each student auditions again for admission into the second year.

Students selected for the programme play full concert programmes with the orchestra, and receive guidance from a mentor from the orchestra. This mentor writes a statement for each project, which is shared with the student, and the student also has the opportunity to share his/her experiences. The reports will be archived at the Royal Conservatoire.

For violin, viola, cello, trumpet, trombone, and percussion, students play 5 project weeks per year with the orchestra. For these students The Hague Philharmonic pays for the tuition fee of the KC. For other instrument groups, the number of projects varies on the basis of availability. These students receive €50,- per rehearsal or concert.

After successfully finishing the two-year Orchestra Master the graduated musician will be placed on the remplaçent list and will be invited to audition for vacancies at The Hague Philharmonic.

Upcoming auditions:

21 and 22 June 2017 at the Royal Conservatoire
