Practicum Musicae

Practicum Musicae is a course for students of Leiden University with musical aspirations. They can choose to take all their minors at the Royal Conservatoire and so follow a professional music course alongside their academic education.

As a participant in the Practicum Musicae programme you will have an 50 minute-long lesson in your main subject with one of our teachers every week, a weekly 90-minute lesson in Elementary Music Theory and 25 minutes with a coach pianist or a duo class every fortnight. During the course you will learn to play music to a very high standard. You will gain stage experience from the concerts by Practicum Musicae students that we organise at the Royal Conservatoire every year and the monthly concerts in the Lokhorstkerk in Leiden. The Practicum Musicae programme lasts three years, but it can be followed for just one or two years.

The entry level for the Practicum Musicae programme is roughly the same as for students entering the preparatory class, but the standard is generally higher.
