Audio Basics

Audio Basics an intensive one-week course at the start of the academic year, in which the student is introduced to the basic concepts and terminology of audio engineering in a theoretical and practical manner. The course provides an oversight of the material that will be dealt with in more depth during the course and can be regarded as a concise introduction. Subjects covered include human hearing, spectral perception, sound pressure and dynamics, acoustics, mixer architecture and signal path, filtering, microphones (directional characteristics) and signal transport. The theoretical treatment of each subject is tested in practice with small experiments.
