Bass trombone player Brandt Attema has been a member of the Radio Philhamonic Orchestra since 1999,and is also a member of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the Nieuw Trombone Collectief. As a freelance musician he plays with groups including the Schoenberg and Asko ensembles.
In September 1999 Brandt Attema won the international competition for bass trombone in Guebwiller – France. Since then he has performed regularly as a soloist. He was a guest at the International Trombone Festival in 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2005, and at the Eastern Trombone Workshop in 2006.
Since 2007 Brandt Attema has been a teacher at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
Brandt Attema studied with Ben van Dijk at the conservatorium in Rotterdam, where he graduated Cum Laude in 2003. He also took lessons with Joe Alessi, Michel Becquet, Blaire Bollinger, Christian Lindberg, Charley Vernon and others.
