Vera Beths

Hoofdvakdocent viool (afdeling Klassieke Muziek)

Vera Beths received her first violin lessons from her father Gijs Beths. She further studied with Herman Krebbers at the conservatorium in Amsterdam. In 1969 Vera Beths won the first prize of the National Violin Competition Oskar Back. After this she took violin lessons in New York with Ivan Galamian.

As a result of her broad musical interests Vera Beths has a wide and multi-faceted repertoire. She performs regularly with Dutch symphony orchestras, playing on a violin made by Stradivarius in 1727. Vera Beths is an enthusiatic chamber musician, but also performs with non-classical musicians such as Willem Breuker.

Composers such as Peter Schat and Louis Andriessen have dedicated works to her.
