NL Scholarships for excellent Master’s candidates (non-EEA)
Students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who have not previously studied at a Dutch institute of higher education and who wish to follow a Master’s programme at the Royal Conservatoire may be eligible for an NL Scholarship.

NL Scholarships are funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and 48 universities and universities of applied sciences. The scholarship is worth €5.000 and is awarded once, at the beginning of the first year study. The amount is transferred directly to your bank account to help cover living expenses.

The entrance exam
The Royal Conservatoire only awards an NL Scholarship to Master’s students who have demonstrated an exceptionally high standard by receiving a grade of 9 or 10 in their entrance exam, in combination with Master Plan. Candidates who are awarded a grade of 10 will automatically be considered for an NL Scholarship; those with a grade of 9, may also be considered.

Awarding of scholarships
The scholarships are awarded depending on several factors. The final selection of candidates is made by the Principal of the Royal Conservatoire.

After receiving an NL Scholarship, and depending on your academic results during the first year of the masters’ programme, you may be eligible for an Excellence Scholarship of €5.000 from the Fonds Koninklijk Conservatorium for the second year of study.

It is not possible to apply directly for an NL Scholarship. You will be informed if you have been nominated based on the results of your entrance exam and Master Plan.
