Classical Music

The Classical Music Department is at the heart of today’s music culture. We challenge you to develop your own creative vision and talent. Most of our teachers pursue international careers as performing musicians. The students in the Classical Music Department play in the Conservatoire’s symphony orchestra, which organises many very interesting projects, as well as forming the basis for the department's succesful two-year Orchestra Master in association with the Residentie Orkest. The annual Chamber Music Festival, in which the teachers and students perform together, symbolises the collegial atmosphere in the Department.

In Entrepreneurial Bootcamp: Explore New Playgrounds you are challenged to find new venues and new audiences for your performances.

Master
In the master programme you design your own Master Project by experimenting with the process of developing a personal professional practice during your studies, combining the three domains of our master curriculum: artistic development, research and professional integration. We also offer master specialisations in collaboration with professional partners, giving you the opportunity to share the stage with professionals. Examples are our Ensemble Academy with Asko|Schönberg and the New European Ensemble and our Orchestra Master specialisation with the Residentie Orkest.
