Calefax XL - Punch Card Concert

Reed quintet Calefax is Ensemble in Residence at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. The ensemble members work closely with students of the KC.

Calefax is a close-knit ensemble of five reed players united by a shared passion. For more than three decades they have been acclaimed in the Netherlands and abroad for their virtuosic playing, brilliant arrangements and innovative stage presentation. They are the inventors of a completely new genre: the reed quintet. They provide inspiration to young wind players from all over the world who follow in their footsteps. Calefax can be defined as a classical ensemble with a pop mentality.

This concert is the conclusion of a week full of rehearsals at the Royal Conservatoire with the Calefax ensemble and our students.

After the concert, at approximately 5.30 p.m. Stijn Brinkman, student from the Classical department, interviews several members of Calefax about their journey from Royal Conservatoire students to professional career and the entrepreneurial skills they've had to develop to get there.
