Creative Pod Collective Concert

On Wednesday 23 June, the Creative Pod Collective will stream the cross-departmental and collaborative performance they created from scratch over the last few weeks. The collective is made up of bachelor as well as master students from various departments of the Royal Conservatoire.

This diverse collective is a result of the Collaborative Artistic Project led by KC teachers Felix Schlarmann and Susan Williams, who also work at different departments of the conservatoire. After exchanging ideas in the research group of the KC lectorate, they decided to work together on a shared research project.

They describe their research, which focusses on peer learning and collective processes in conservatoires, as follows: "this research is an exploratory investigation into how we can set up semi-formal peer learning groups in a conservatoire setting and what the outcomes and effects on the participants would be. Two types of peer-learning ‘Pods’ were set up – a Performance Preparation Pod (PPPod) and a Creative collaboration Pod (CCPod). The CCPod is dedicated to collective work forms and the effect of cross-over working formats and consists of twelve musicians from five different departments who will experience a two-phase programme: a first phase with spontaneous cross-over duo projects, the ‘duo for a day’; and a collaborative group project in the second phase, in which the students have to act, function and create as a collective."

Tune in here on Wednesday at 20:30 to see the performance that came out of the second phase of the project.
