Every two years, the Classical Department organises a Side by Side project in which the students have the opportunity of performing alongside with the Cuarteto Casals and to learn from them. Cuarteto Casals is Ensemble in Residence at the Royal Conservatoire.

The students perform with them as an orchestra, with Casals members being the leaders of the orchestra groups. This experience inspires the students and allows them to observe and learn from professional musicians in terms of performance techniques, stage presentation and artistic interpretation.
