EigenGrau is an experimental jazz trio, recently founded by students of the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Simon Gelsdorf on piano, Thor Johansen on bass and Nikolas Tsangaris on drums. The members come from Germany, Denmark and Cyprus and therefore they each bring a different international musical background and contribution. They use and combine this fact in new explorative and energetic compositions. Their music incorporates a multitude of musical styles with influences from traditional Bebop, Nordic Jazz, classical music and rhythms inspired by Middle Eastern artists such as Tigran Hamasyan, Avashai Cohen and Shai Maestro. On Saturday, October 30, they will be joined by saxophonist Hristo Goleminov to perform together as a quartet, combining their own pieces by the trio and those of Hristo to tread uncharted paths in a new and musical way.
