Rays of hope (lichtpuntjes in Dutch) are to be found everywhere in the form of beautiful objects, dreams and encounters with others.

Riiziane Golamun, Nadira Jansen and Gheranie Rikkert are artists from the Haags Theaterhuis, a community theatre company. In association with Theater De Vaillant, they went in search of reasons to be cheerful. Literally. By going from door to door in the Schilderswijk and Transvaal. The result is a collection of stories, pronouncements and artworks representing a ray of light amidst the darkness of the second lockdown in the spring of last year. Together the stories form a beacon of faith, hope and love. And a source of inspiration for the musicians of The Hague Jazz Collective and the spoken-word artists of the Haags HipHop Centrum.

The Lichtpuntjes they found were linked together into a concert during a series of jam sessions. The performance in De Vaillant on Friday 5 November is a prelude to an appearance in Amare, where the collective will give the concert Lichtpuntjes during the opening weekend on 19, 20 and 21 November. Students from the Royal Conservatoire’s Jazz department could also apply to join the project.

About The Hague Jazz Collective
The Hague Jazz Collective was formed by Kobe Gregoir and Raphaël Royer, both alumni of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. The collective’s aim is to bring alumni of the Royal Conservatoire into contact with current students with a view to jointly organising outreach projects. Master in Drums student Tristan Guillaume composed the music for the concert together with members of The Hague Jazz Collective.

About Haags HipHop Centrum
The Haags HipHop Centrum (H3C for short) is the centre of talent development in the disciplines of the hiphop culture (breaking, DJing, rap and graffiti) in the Haaglanden region. In addition to lessons during the week, the H3C organises regular master classes and events, as well as arranging appearances and battles for talented young artists and improving their professional skills.
