Twee musicians from the Residentie Orkest will accompany a Composition student and the actor Aus Greidanus as they walk around the city meeting members of the public and discovering  from have conversations with a man in a shop or a woman on the street or in the library what people are talking about and what has been most relevant for them in recent weeks.
Taking one or two key sentences from the conversations as their lead, the Composition students will then spend about four weeks writing a minute-long piece for our Symphonic Friday. A prelude for the evening programme, when a brief reflection on what is occupying the minds of people in The Hague with the sounds of today are performed by the same orchestra that will later perform Brahms, Beethoven or Stravinsky. And of course the man in the shop and the woman on the street or in the library will be invited to attend the concert with family or friends.
Ten times during the season the Residentie Orkest will capture what is occupying people’s minds in The Hague; ten times the talented Composition students will have a chance to write for a full symphony orchestra; ten times the Residentie Orkest on the cutting edge.
