Spring Festival

Monday 1 to Friday 6 April

The programme for the Spring Festival 2019 once again clearly demonstrates the enormous pull that the Composition department exerts on alumni of the Royal Conservatoire.

The department has always been an important incubator for new ensembles specialising in contemporary classical music. Ensemble Klang and the New European Ensemble are just two of the many ensembles to emerge from the department, and they will be returning to their roots to perform works by Composition students in 2019.

A special feature this year is the new collaboration between students from the Composition and Early Music departments and the Dance department. Special guest is the composer Nicolas Collins, an American pioneer and living legend, who has created a furore with his use of microcomputers during live electronic performances.

The support programme will include numerous other works by students and as usual there will be an evening devoted to new vocal repertoire.

This programme is produced with the assistance of students from the Art of Sound department.
