Music Education

The Music Education department offers a range of programmes both at Bachelor and Master level.
For Docent Muziek (the Bachelor of Music in Education) we have three streams: a full-time programme, an abridged programme and a lateral-entry programme for people who already have a teaching job in a school. This study programme is one of the broadest study programmes at the Royal Conservatoire. The training is ideal for anyone who enjoys working with groups and has an affinity with education. If you are full of music yourself, are a developed instrumentalist or singer and really want to pass on your musical fire. This study programme is offered in Dutch only.

At master level, there are two study programmes dedicated to music education and participation: the Master ‘’The Musician Educator’’ is run by the Education Department and the Master Kodaly is run by the Music Theory Department.

We also organise an education programme for all students of the performing departments, as well as for sonology and composition. In this programme, students develop important professional skills in the area of music teaching.
