Vocal Studies
In a diverse, artistic environment in which boundaries between genres and disciplines are increasingly blurring, Vocal Studies students of the Royal Conservatoire learn to create new and individual ways to express themselves as artists.
The Vocal Studies Department of the Royal Conservatoire offers the following Bachelor's and Master's programmes:
- Classical Music Vocal Studies
- Early Music Vocal Studies
- Choral conducting
As a student of the Vocal Studies Department, you will be trained to become a flexible and creative professional with a solid technical and musical foundation. You will be challenged to research and develop your own unique profile and will be given plenty of room to choose your own learning path.
Collaboration is an important value within the Vocal Studies Department; students and teachers of the vocal and choral conducting programmes are in close contact. For example, parts of the vocal and choral conducting curriculum are followed or taught together, and our projects are always open to students from both the Classical and Early Music trajectories.
All of our lecturers have made their mark in the international field, and many of them combine teaching with active professional practice. Partly because of this, the Vocal Studies Department has excellent relationships with many partners in the field, and that is a point of pride!
Graduates of our department perform in opera houses all over the world, are active in chamber music and modern music theatre, sing in or stand before professional choirs and ensembles, or work in music education.
