A magical and musical Christmas story

18 December 2020

Just before Christmas the Atheneum Chamber Orchestra (AKO) wants to surprise you with a very special concert.

For the 35th time in a row, Siemens Netherlands asked the Atheneum Chamber Orchestra (AKO) to perform its Christmas concerts. The challenge was therefore not whether, but how the traditional Christmas concerts could take place during the current pandemic. We found a solution that took us further than ever before.

We proudly present a magical and musical Christmas story, in which tradition and digitization, film, song, dance and design come together. The story by Aukelien van Hoytema, presented by actor Daniel Boissevain and choreography and visual concept by David Middendorp have stimulated the youth of the AKO to rise to new heights.

We can proudly share that the film will be broadcast on NPO 2 Extra on December 25, 8.30 pm, but can already be admired on the Siemens website.

Beautiful and endearing performances of AKO Junior and AKO Mini, Jong KC Zang, Jong KC Piano and Jong KC Jazz have also been recorded for the Siemens digital Christmas market. View everything - including a personal explanation of the entire project - on the Youtube channel of the KC.

Special thanks goes out to all (young) musicians, dancers and artists, conductor Jac van Steen, involved accompanists and colleagues, the director and technique. The project was led by colleagues Annick van Gennip and Matteo Costanzi, without whom this result would not have been possible.

Happy Christmas and an inspiring new year!
