The Royal Conservatoire and Codarts intensify their collaboration in the Classical Music field. The goal of the collaboration is to structure the programmes at both institutes in a way that benefits students the most. In this respect, there will be build on the already existing initiatives such as the joined annual symphony orchestra in the Gergiev Festival, and the series of classical concerts led by Jac van Steen.

As per 1 March, head of the Classical Music department at the Royal Conservatoire Wim Vos, will start as the intendant for both institutes to further shape the collaboration. He will focus on the artistic-educational vision for both programmes and developing its content, in close consultation with the boards of both conservatories. The further development and fine-tuning the Classical Music curricula are important for the students to get access to what both conservatories have to offer. The starting point is that the programmes will work closely together as well as individually.

Marlon Titre (guitarist, composer, reseacher and currently working at Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts) will start his tenure as deputy head of the Classical Music department at the Royal Conservatoire on 1 March 2018. At Codarts, Wim Vos will work closely with Irja Zeper (head of the Classical Music department) and Tamara Rumiantsev (head of Education Innovation at Codarts).
