Rheanne wins 2nd price of the Dermot Troy Trophy

14 April 2022

Rheanne Breen, a master 1 student of the Vocal department, competed in an oratorio competition in her home country Ireland.
In the Dermot Troy Trophy competitors had to sing one aria in its original key and language from any oratorio. The competition was judged by the famous soprano Suzanne Murphy. This competition is part of the National Feis Ceol Festival, which encompasses many disciplines of music across a variety of ages.

Rheanne sang Höre Israel from Mendelssohn's Elias. This was good enough for a second price. Suzanne Murphy gave the singer a big compliment: 'some really lovely, lovely sounds. It's not an easy aria but it really suits you and I think the top of the voice is just glorious.'
