Frans Fiselier graduated at the Sweelinck Conservatory with Cora Canne Meyer, and continued his studies with William Murray in Berlin.
In 1984 he won three prizes at the International Vocal Competition in Den Bosch, (in the ‘lied’ category) and in 1986 he received the ‘Toonkunst-jubileumprijs’, after which he was much in demand as soloist with many opera and oratorio companies in The Netherlands. He gave concerts with the Orkest van het Oosten, The Hague Philharmonic, Limburg Symphony Orchestra, the Brabant orchestra, the North Netherlands orchestra and with the Combattimento Consort directed by Jan Willem de Vriend.
Frans Fiselier was part of the Dutch Opera studio and sang in various productions, the independent theatre in Rotterdam and with the Nationale reisopera. He also sang in modern operas by composers such as Klaas de Vries, Bernard van Beurden, Kees Olthuis and Martijn Padding.
In October 2003 Frans Fiselier sung the role of the black minister in Le Grand Macabre (Ligeti) with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London, and in February 2004 took the role of Eomolpus in ‘Satyricon’ (Maderna) with the Opera in Nancy.
In 2004 he sung four roles Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro in a special arrangement with The Netherlands Wind Ensemble, followed with further arrangements of Mozart operas. In 2008 he was a guest of Het Gelds Orkest as Leporello in Don Giovannidirected by Martin Sieghart.
In 2008 a CD was released with the St John Passion with Concerto D’Amsterdam directed by Nico van der Meel, for which Frans Fiselier took the part of Christus.
In 2009 he performed with the Orchestra of the 18th Century conducted by Frans Brüggen in the bass part in the Hohe Messe by Bach, and later in that year he was a guest in Linz with the Bruckner orchestra where he sung the role of Bonafede in Il mondo della Luna by Josef Haydn.
In 2011 he returned to The Netherlands Opera in Britten’s Billy Budd, and conducted by Rene Jacobs in Plathee by Rameau
His repertoire includes Pappagano, (Die Zauberflöte), Figaro, il conte (Le Nozze di Figaro)
Don Alfonso, Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte ), Junius (Lucretia), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Belcore (L’elisir D’amore), Garibaldo (Rodelinda), and Falke (Die Fledermaus).
Frans Fiselier’s oratorio repertoire includes many composers and stylistic periods, including Bach’s passions, Händel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelsohn’s Eliasand Verdi’s Requiem.
He has also given many song recitals nationally and internationally (including for ‘Vrienden van het lied’), and he is also regularly to be heard via Dutch broadcasting.
Since 2006 he has been part of the 4 family Quintet, and ensemble whose fun character makes classical vocal music approachable to young and old.
