Herman Jeurissen

Main subject teacher horn (Classical Department)

Herman Jeurissen is solo horn player with the Residentie Orkest The Hague, and teaches horn at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam, the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and the Fontys Conservatorium in Tilburg. He studied horn with Adriaan van Woudenberg and Michael Höltzel. He was awarded the Prix d'excellence (1978) and the silver 'Vriendenkrans' of the Concertgebouw (1979). As horn soloist, chamber musician and teacher he is the regular guest of international festivals and horn symposia. His interests are expecially directed towards the less well known repertoire for his instrument. He has made reconstructions of the incomplete horn concertos by Mozart, KV 370b & 371 and 494a. He been has published on this subject and recorded a CD. As well as this he composes and arranges for his instrument, including a horn method, etudes, and pedagogical compositions for horn ensemble.
