Ilona Sie Dhian Ho, born in The Netherlands, began her violin studies with Caroline Ingen-Housz. She subsequently studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Vera Beths, Davina van Wely and Jaring Walta. She has won prizes from the age of eleven in national violin competitions such as the Iordens Violin Days, the Princess Christina Concours, the AVRO (radio) competition and the National Violin Competition “Oskar Back” in Amsterdam. Various grants (including the Fulbright Award, Foundation Stage Performance and the Foundation Netherlands-America) made it possible for her to continue her studies in the United States with Mauricio Fuks at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington.

As concertmaster of the Jeunesses Musicales World Youth Orchestra she toured through Canada and Europe, as soloist in the Manhattan Concerto by Siegfried Matthus in numerous large venues, such as the Philharmonie in Berlin.

Ilona Sie Dhian Ho developed a particular interest in teaching. During her own studies she was invited to teach at the String Academy in Bloomington. She was assistant to Mauricio Fuks during the Chateau de Champ masterclass in Paris, as well as the Summer Academy of the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Since returning to The Netherlands Ilona has taught at the North-Netherlands Conservatorium in Groningen, at the Van Zweden School and at the Royal Conservatoire. Her own violin method, with its aim to show students how they can teach themselves by the use of creative practicing methods, has generated a great deal of interest. As well as concerts with various ensembles, Ilona Sie Dhian Ho performs regularly with pianist Hans Eijsackers. She plays on an instrument by Lorenzo Ventapane (Naples, 1802).
