Mees Vos (Amsterdam,1994) started playing the french horn when he was six years old. With the age of 12 he started studying with Martin van de Merwe at the young talent department of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. After finishing his bachelors at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Herman Jeurissen, he proceeded studying with prof. Jörg Brückner at the ‘Franz Liszt’ Hochschule für Musik in Weimar. He followed masterclasses with renowned teachers as Frøydis Ree Wekre, Stefan Dohr and Peter Damm.
Already during his studies in Weimar he got appointed as principal horn of the Staatskapelle Weimar. He also plays regularly as a guest with leading orchestras in the Netherlands and abroad. He played with orchestras as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Radio orchestra Frankfurt and other dutch orchestras and ensembles. He played with renowned conductors as Valery Gergiev, Iván Fischer, Jaap van Zweden and Christoph Eschenbach. Besides playing in the orchestra Mees has a big love for playing modern music and chamber music.
From the summer of 2020 on he starts as a main subject teacher horn at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He also starts working as principal horn at the Arnhem philharmonic orchestra (Phion) from august 2020 on.
