Remco de Vries

Main subject teacher oboe and orchestral parts (Classical Departments)

Remco de Vries,  born in ’s Hertogenbosch Netherlands, received his first oboe lessons  from his father Anne de Vries. He studied oboe with Heinz Friesen at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

During his studies he started playing very regularly with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, in 1987 he became member of this orchestra and in since 1992 he is principle solo oboist of the same orchestra under the baton of many famous conductors as Valery Gergiev, Simon Rattle and Yanick Nezet Seguin. 

He performed  many times as soloist with i.a. Ton Koopman, Gianandrea Noseda, Yoel Levi and Frans Bruggen. For many years he was member of the Dutch Wind Ensemble,  Combattimento Consort Amsterdam and the Schoenberg Ensemble. 

He has recorded a great amount of windmusic, e.g. all Serenades & Divertimenti for winds by W.A. Mozart, Sinfonia Concertante by W.A. Mozart and the Octet Partitas for winds by Franz Krommer. Since 1990 he is professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
