Roelof Meijer works as a double bass player with the Residentie Orkest and is a teacher at the Royal Conservatoire. He is the composer and founder of musical theatre group Revolve.
Roelof studied at the Conservatory of Zwolle with Peter Korpershoek, where he obtained the diploma Performing Musician in 1986.
With the pianist Armin Segger he formed the Duo Bassanova for 10 years with which he also recorded two CDs. Roelof has always been active as a composer. His music is at the intersection of jazz, pop, classical, world music, soundscapes and electronic experiments. Together with lyricist Jochem Bosselaar, he made the musical theatre performance Balthazar Moirée This performance was also released on CD. During his sabbatical he wrote the music for the CD Revolve. He also wrote the music for the animated short film Elegy by Shereen Abdul Baki. This film won "The best Animation Award" at the Cambofest in 2008.
