We asked Alumna Lilita Dunska to reflect on her time at the Royal Conservatoire:

“Ten years ago I could not have imagined studying sound engineering AND coming to The Hague to do it. I was told technology was meant for boys and the prospect of leaving my home country felt more like moving to another planet. And yet, I landed in The Royal Conservatory and amongst many things - learned that studying recording has nothing to do with gender, the teachers here are both mentors and friends, and that the recording studio is a great place to spend your time on rainy days. It rains all the time. I was very curious about other subjects, therefore I chose to take a tasting menu from multiple departments. I got to play wonderful analogue synthesizers, took classes at the Art Academy and learned how to solder. Yes, I make my own cables now!
And last, but not least, I met many friends, soulmates and colleagues from all over the world. In my case, that alone was worth taking the seemingly intergalactic leap of moving across Europe, and learning about sound was a beautiful bonus.”
