Art of Sound co-founds new platform for immersive spatial sound

26 May 2026

On Thursday 28 May, the new consortium Futures of Listening will officially launch at the 4DSOUND studio in Amsterdam. Art of Sound at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague is one of the founding partners of this new platform, which brings together artists, researchers, developers and institutions working in the field of immersive spatial sound.

The launch marks the start of a long-term collaboration focused on the future of listening and sound-centred immersive experiences. The consortium explores how spatial sound can shape new forms of performance, storytelling and installation art, particularly in relation to social and ecological questions.

Alongside Art of Sound, the initiative was founded by FIBER Festival, 4DSOUND and Robin Koek. The platform connects a broad international network of artistic and scientific partners, including iii, Leiden University, University of the Arts The Hague, MONOM, CTM Festival and PXL-Music Research.

The launch programme on 28 May includes talks, discussions and collective listening sessions with connected researchers and artists from across the international network. Find more information on the website of FIBER Festival.
