The Royal Conservatoire The Hague has appointed Robert Pravda as the new Head of the Master ArtScience. He will take up the position on 1 September 2026, succeeding Catelijne van Middelkoop.
Pravda brings extensive experience in interdisciplinary art, both as an artist and educator. He has a strong connection to ArtScience and its history, having studied at the Interfaculty Image & Sound before becoming a teacher there. With his knowledge of the programme and the professional field, he will contribute to the future development of ArtScience and strengthen the connection between the Royal Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Art.
About Robert Pravda
Robert Pravda studied engineering at the Technical University of Novi Sad from 1987 to 1991. He subsequently became active in experimental underground music. His interest in interdisciplinary art brought him to the Interfaculty Image & Sound, where he graduated in 2002.
His artistic practice explores relationships between sound, space, perception, technology and performance. During his studies and later in his artistic practice, he developed instruments for multimedia performance, and algorithmic compositions for spatial sound and light installations.
As Head of Master ArtScience, Pravda will contribute to the further development of the programme as a transdisciplinary environment where artistic practice, scientific inquiry and technological experimentation come together. The programme considers making, thinking and sensing as interconnected forms of inquiry, with sound, perception and embodiment providing important points of departure.
Pravda will also work to strengthen connections between the Royal Conservatoire and Royal Academy of Art, supporting an experimental and collaborative culture in which artistic and scientific methods can generate new forms of knowledge and practice.
