Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya

Coach Accompanist

Keyboard artist Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya is in great demand both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. She graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 2009 from the class of Prof. Olga Martynova, where she studied harpsichord, fortepiano, and piano. Alexandra continued her studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, gaining a Master’s degree under the tutelage of Richard Egarr and Menno van Delft. In July 2015 Alexandra graduated with the Zertifikatstudium Meisterklasse Degree from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in München under Prof. Christine Schornsheim. She has won top prizes at competitions including the Prague Spring International Competition in 2012, and the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition Leipzig in 2014.

Her love for chamber music and solo performance has brought her to premier venues and festivals all over Europe, Russia, and Asia. She has appeared at Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Barbican Centre in London, as well as in the Utrecht Early Music Festival, Prague Spring International Festival, Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, and the Hong Kong Arts Festival among others. She works regularly with the Residentie Orkest in Den Haag, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, and the Academy of Ancient music.

She and her husband Richard Egarr formed Duo Pleyel in 2017 to explore the exciting world of 4-hand keyboard repertoire that is so often unjustly ignored. Their first CD for LINN Records of works by Schubert was released in 2020 and received excellent reviews. It was followed in 2021 by the complete 4-hand music by Jan Ladislav Dussek. Their last release coupled the early 4-hand sonatas of Mozart with works by his ‘musical father’ Johann Christian Bach and was BBC Music Magazine’s Instrumental Recording of the Month in January 2023. For Brilliant Classics label, Alexandra has recorded music by Geminiani and Boccherini with violinist Igor Ruhadze. Alexandra’s first keyboard solo recording for LINN of Gottlieb Muffat’s extraordinary set of harpsichord suites ‘Componimenti Musicali’ will be released in April 2024.

Alexandra has worked at the Early Music Department of the Royal Conservatoire in Den Haag as a coach accompanist since January 2020.
