Merel studied Arts & Economics at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, specializing in event management and classical music. During her studies, she interned at the production department of Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and gained experience working at various orchestra's, festivals and events. As a clarinetist, she has played in several (wind) orchestras.
