Drummer Tim Hennekes (1997) is an upcoming talent within the Dutch jazz scene. He is praised for his multidimensional playing with a power to expres himself and bring his individuality in his drum playing. Tim started playing the drums at a very young age and found out that the joy it brings himself and to the listening people when you make music is what he wants to do for the rest of his life.
Tim studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and at the School voor Jong Talent at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He studied with renowned musicians like Martijn Vink, Marcel Serierse, Lucas van Merwijk, Eric Ineke, Stefan Kruger and Joost Patocka.
With groups like the Lucas Santana 5tet, Anton Goudsmit’s Ton Petit+ Gijs Idema Trio, Anna Serierse Quartet, Peter Beets Trio, Alexander Beets Quintet, Peter Beets New Jazz Orchestra, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, CvA concert big band, New York Round Midnight Orchestra Tim played concerts in the Netherlands and abroad and on stages like the BIMhuis, North Sea Jazz Festival, TivoliVredenburg, Lantarenvenster, Grachtenfestival, Transition Festival and many more.
With the trio of guitarist Gijs Idema Tim won the first price of the prestigious Prinses Christina Jazz Concours in 2014, the Leidse Jazz Award in 2016 and the Expression of Art Award in 2017.
In 2018 Tim was the winner of the Sena Performers Gouden Slifje. In the jury rapport he was described as a versatile drummer with a lot of expressiveness and individuality in his playing. His studious attitude combined with his inquisitive nature meant he’s a promise for the future.
In 2018 Tim was also the winner of the Keep an Eye Outstanding Talent award. An award created to praise the most exceptional talent from the Young Metropole Orchestra.
The jury for this prize was the chief conductor Vince Mendoza.

Since 2021 Tim is a teacher Jazz-Drums at the Young Talent department of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague
