In this festive celebration, the instrumental and vocal students of the Early Music department of the Royal Conservatoire will present a program featuring the music of J.S. Bach. For many Europeans, there is no Christmas without Bach. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio has been officially declared as folk music in Germany as it is so familiar and loved, with thousands of performances every year during the advent time.
The program begins with the well-known Orchestral Suite in D major, followed by some excerpts from the Christmas Oratorio. The concert ends with the Cantata BWV 110 'Unser Mund sei voll Lachens' written for Christmas Day 1725. The musicians from the Royal Conservatoire will be joined in the final choral by the choir of the Deutsche Evangelische Gemeinde.
