Sonology Discussion Concert

The Sonology Discussion Concerts have long been a leading platform for electroacoustic music in the Netherlands. These evenings feature work by students, electronic music classics and international guest composers, all presented with high-end equipment and in venues with exceptional acoustics.
The concerts are an essential part of the curriculum at the Institute of Sonology. They are fully produced by students as part of the course Sound Engineering in Electronic Music. In the week following each concert, the programme is discussed in the weekly colloquium led by a member of faculty.

Programme

This concert features fixed-media compositions by Katarina Kadijević, Sina Mousavi Fard and Conor Brown. Isul Kim presents improvised music for vibraphone, piano and computer. David Bilek performs with a self-built instrument, and Antonio Hasbún-González presents a work for classical guitar and electronics.

The programme also includes generative computer music by Nicolas Zentz and Ivan Kalashnik, as well as the results of Sara Pinheiro’s Listening to Film workshop. Iz Abad Manning presents a video with music. The concert concludes with the Sonology Electroacoustic Ensemble, featuring our new Konrad Boehmer visiting professor Elisabeth Harnik on prepared piano.

Please arrive on time, preferably 15 minutes in advance. Once the concert has started, the doors will remain closed.
