To mark its 200th anniversary, the Royal Conservatoire The Hague presents Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem in the monumental Grote Kerk.
Students join forces with cultural partners from The Hague and international IN.TUNE partners for this large-scale production. More than 225 musicians perform the work, written for soloists, choir, orchestra, chamber orchestra and children’s choir.
The project also involves the Residentie Orkest, the Residentie Bachkoor and the Haags Matrozenkoor. Musical direction is shared by alumni Sam Weller and César Ramos.
In War Requiem, Britten combines the Latin Requiem Mass with powerful poetry by Wilfred Owen. The result is a moving musical reflection on war, loss and reconciliation. In the heart of The Hague, this monumental work is performed by a new generation of engaged musicians.
