Elysa van Rens en Luc Serarrens awarded with Cultuurfonds SvJT prizes
23 April 2025
During a masterclass on Thursday 17 April, young dancers from the Royal Conservatoire had the opportunity to present themselves to a professional jury. The class – structured as a professional audition – was led by guest teacher John McFall and accompanied by pianist Albena Stoyanova.
The Encouragement Prize and Dance Scholarship of the Cultuurfonds School for Young Talent are intended to support participation in an (international) dance course, workshop or training programme. The jury, consisting of Tamara Roso, Ralitza Malehounova and Pascale Eyk, assessed the students on talent, artistry and technique, taking into account the stage of development each dancer is in.
On behalf of the jury, Pascale Eyk announced the winners.
Elysa van Rens received the Encouragement Prize of €1,000. The jury report states: ‘For the Encouragement Prize, we were looking for a talented and curious dancer with courage, dynamism and the right mindset. You showed us all of these qualities!’
The Dance Scholarship of €2,000 was awarded to Luc Serarrens, with the jury noting: ‘You are a natural mover with a distinct individuality and strong phrasing. Your eagerness and enthusiasm bring a positive presence to the class, combined with a clear desire to grow.’
Congratulations, Elysa and Luc!
