François Petit new Head of Dance

26 June 2025

As of January 2026, François Petit will take up the position of Head of Royal Conservatoire Dance. He will succeed Jan Linkens and Catharina Boon, who have jointly led the department since 2014.

François Petit on his appointment:

‘I’m honoured to join Royal Conservatoire Dance as its new Head. Royal Conservatoire Dance offers a rare blend of dance training - rooted in tradition, yet forward-looking. I am inspired by the legacy of Jan Linkens and Catharina Boon, whose work has left a lasting impact on the department. I’m excited to help shape its next chapter with a passionate team and define its identity.

It’s a privilege to become part of the Royal Conservatoire - an institution known for its artistic excellence, interdisciplinary vision, and deep commitment to education and innovation.

My focus will be on listening, collaborating, and helping to create a space where students and staff feel supported, challenged, and proud of the work we do together for the future of dance.

I have a passion for education and am excited for what’s ahead. Let’s dance it. Together.’
