During the final of the Conservatorium Talent Award 2025, vibraphonist Antonin Jaccard, student at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, won first prize. With an impressive performance, he managed to convince both the jury and the audience.
Eight talented students from Dutch conservatoires took the stage on Saturday 10 May at the Azijnfabriek in ’s-Hertogenbosch for the final of the Conservatorium Talent Award (CTA) 2025. The jury, made up of leading professionals from the jazz scene, evaluated the finalists on instrumental mastery, compositional strength, ensemble playing, creativity, and stage presence.
The jury praised Antonin for his strong musical vision, distinctive sound, and artistic courage. Jury chair Aad van Nieuwkerk commented: “Jaccard presents a very convincing and colourful concert with bold solo work. He communicates and truly connects with the audience.”
Antonin on what the award means to him: “Coming from a classical music background, I’ve often sought recognition for interpreting the works of others. This competition was a unique and meaningful experience—it gave me the opportunity to shape and share my own musical voice, alongside incredible musicians who brought their energy and creativity together.”
The Conservatorium Talent Award is an initiative of Jazz in Duketown and is made possible by the Cultuurfonds Noord-Brabant. The award is presented annually to an exceptional talent from one of the eight Dutch conservatoires with a jazz department. As the winner, Antonin receives a €5,000 cash prize, made available by the Cultuurfonds Noord-Brabant, to support his continued musical development. In addition, he will perform as part of the prize at Jazz in Duketown on Saturday 7 June at 18:15 on the Kerkplein in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
Congratulations, Antonin!
