​Nikola wins Concertgebouw Young Talent Award

Pianist Nikola Meeuwsen (2002) is the winner of the sixth Concertgebouw Young Talent Award. The Concertgebouw reported this on Thursday afternoon. With this the Concertgebouw wants to support Nikola Meeuwsen in his further development. The prize consists of an award and a scholarship of 5000 euros. Nikola is a student at our School for Young Talent.

Simon Reinink, general director of the Concertgebouw: "With the Young Talent Award, the Concertgebouw gives young musical talent the opportunity to break through internationally and perform in beautiful concert halls in and outside Europe. Nikola Meeuwsen is an exceptional piano talent, which we like to stimulate and give him the space to reach full maturity. I am very happy that we have awarded the Concertgebouw Young Talent Award to Nikola because he has the talent, ambition and motivation to be among the best in his field. "

Nikola Meeuwsen presents himself as one of the most striking young piano talents in the Netherlands. The NRC called him a talent to keep an eye on. In 2014 he won the Royal Concertgebouw Competition and in 2012 the Steinway Competition. Horowitz, Schnabel, Sofronitsky, Cziffra, Rubinstein, Lipatti, Sokolov, Pogorelich, Volodos and Gould are the pianists he loves to listen to. After he heard the Third Piano Concerto of Rachmaninoff with Vladimir Horowitz, Nikola knew he wanted to become a pianist.
