Royal Conservatoire duo through to Prinses Christina Concours finals
2 May 2024
We're excited to share that Duo Tiago consisting of Claire Schuurmans and Tiago Luís Henriques, both third-year Bachelor's students at the Royal Conservatoire in Den Haag, have advanced to the finals of the Prinses Christina Klassiek Concours 2024.
Mentored by esteemed faculty members, Claire and Tiago showcase a remarkable synergy as a harp and cello duo.
Tiago takes lessons from Jan-Ype Nota and Michel Strauss, and Claire takes lessons from Ernestine Stoop and Sylvain Blassel. As an ensemble, they take lessons with cellist Roger Regter and harpist Ernestine Stoop.
Their journey together began thanks to a school project from the harp class in collaboration with the composition department in 2022, where they discovered a shared musical passion. Since then, their repertoire has evolved to include captivating pieces like 'Si Veriash a la Rana' by Kelly-Marie Murphy and 'Beau Soir' by Debussy, highlighting the expressive depth of their instruments.
You can read more about Duo Tiago in this interview with the Prinses Christina Concours.
Join us in supporting Claire and Tiago as they compete in the finals of the Prinses Christina Concours on Sunday, May 12th, at Amare in Den Haag!
