Daniël van der Hoeven is a Dutch classical concert pianist, praised for his transparent and intimate playing style. “It feels as though you are alone with the composer,” a reviewer once wrote about one of his solo albums. Van der Hoeven has won prizes at the Bach competitions in Würzburg and Leipzig, as well as at international competitions in Seattle and Lagny-sur-Marne, and at the YPF Piano Competition.
He is known for his versatility in performing repertoire from various musical periods. His debut solo album features works by Prokofiev and Bartók, while his second album includes pieces by Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Shostakovich. His third album, Immersed, features, among other works, Bach’s solo violin sonatas arranged for piano. All of these albums received critical acclaim.
In addition to his solo recitals, Daniël van der Hoeven regularly performs with orchestras and chamber music ensembles.
Since 2012, Daniël has been affiliated with the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where he works as a Piano Coach.
