Filip Verneert

Teacher Creativity and Expression

Filip Verneert is Master of Science (MSc) in Educational Studies (KU Leuven), followed a bachelor in Philosophy and did a postgraduate program in Systems Therapy (KU Leuven) and studied jazz guitar at the Conservatory of Brussels. He is director of Muziekmozaïek Folk & Jazz vzw and chief editor of the Flemish magazine Jazz & Mo’.

Since 2017, he is a PhD researcher at the LUCA School of Arts - KU Leuven with a research on the integration of freer forms of improvisation within music education. He publishes regularly on the importance of improvisation in music education, collaborative creativity and community music. He recently published the books ‘Naar een didactiek van de Folk’ and ‘De JazzBoom’.
