Juan Pedro Martínez began his oboe studies at the Conservatory of his hometown, Campo de Criptana, before continuing at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Amaniel in Madrid with Manuel Angulo, where he graduated with honors. He later pursued his bachelor’s studies at the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco – Musikene, working with renowned teachers such as Juan Manuel González Lumbreras, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Christian Wetzel, and Salvador Mir. He completed his education with a master’s degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag, studying under Karel Schoofs, Lucas Macías, and Alexei Ogrintchouk.

Juan Pedro’s early career was strongly shaped by his participation in leading youth orchestras such as the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE), and the Joven Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (JORCAM). His musical development was further supported by scholarships from AIE, Jonde-BBVA, and Jorcam-Ibercaja.

As an orchestral musician, Juan Pedro has collaborated with some of the most prestigious orchestras in Europe, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Residentie Orkest, PhilZuid, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana (Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía), Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española, and Orquesta de Cámara de Cadaqués, among others. From 2015 to 2016, he served as Principal English Horn with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria.

He has appeared as a soloist performing Bohuslav Martinů’s Oboe Concerto with JORCAM in 2012 and W. A. Mozart’s Oboe Concerto with the Belgian Chamber Orchestra (Casco Phil) in 2015.

In addition to his orchestral work, Juan Pedro is deeply committed to teaching. He has been a faculty member at two editions of the summer course Encuentro de la Doble Caña en La Mancha in his hometown and has given masterclasses at the Conservatorio de Música Amaniel in Madrid. Furthermore, he has been invited as an oboe teacher for youth orchestra projects in Costa Rica and El Salvador.

In 2019, he joined Het Balletorkest in Amsterdam as English Horn, a position he held for four years, and since 2023, he has been a member of the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest (NedPhO) as English Horn/Oboe under the direction of the chief conductor Lorenzo Viotti.

Since October 2025, Juan Pedro is the English Horn teacher at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag.
