Marishka van Loon trained at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London and then danced with the Rambert Dance Company (UK), Troublelyn-Jan Fabre (B), De Nieuwe Dansgroep (NL), Ulmer Ballett and Tanzforum Köln (D). In 1996 she founded and choreographed for her own company DansTheater Kharisma in Maastricht. She made 15 works, mostly solo’s, duets and trio’s including: HoutRoest, Drowning my Dreams and SlachtWerk. During her professional dance career Marishka taught classes and workshops in ballet, contemporary dance and improvisation all over Europe.
At the dance festival "CaDance 2000" in The Hague, she worked as production manager for the first time. With Opera Zuid she continued this career and also choreographed for the opera company, among others, De Barbier from Sevilla, Rusalka, Cendrillon and Die Lustige Witwe. At the same time, for almost 10 years, Marishka worked for dance festival the “Nederlandse Dansdagen” as a production manager and later as the main coordinator of location performances, hotel reservations and volunteer participation.
At Danshuis Limburg, she works as production manager from 2004 with Marc Jonkers, Sjoerd Vreugdenhil, Paul Selwyn Norton and many more. After an exciting tour with a mobile ‘blow up’ dance theater for productions of Station Zuid, in Tilburg, ended in 2010 Marishka became Coordinator of Opleiding Dans Maastricht until 2019. This was a pre-professional dance training within a secondary school, in cooperation with Codarts Rotterdam. Since the beginning of 2020, Marishka has been working as a Coordinator Planning and Projects Dance at the Royal Conservatoire.
