Micha de Kanter

Main subject teacher Art of Sound

Micha de Kanter (Netherlands, Haarlem, 1974) is active as independent recording engineer for over 15 years and specialized in acoustic music; Jazz, singer-songwriter, contemporary and improvised music.

After finishing his study Art of Sound at the Royal Conservatory The Hague in 2000 he recorded with leading musicians and labels in several national and international recording studio’s.

Aside acoustical studio recordings, live sound for projects and festivals, concert recordings en broadcasting are among his daily work. Since 1989 Micha has a close connection with the renowned Jazzclub the Bimhuis in Amsterdam.

Micha worked with with many national in international artist and festivals, such as Jasper Blom, Reinier Baas, Ben van Gelder, Joris Roelofs, Peter Adriaans, Ensemble Klang, Yannis Kyriakides, Matt Wright, Theo Loevenie, NorthSeaJazz, Susanna Alt, NTR Radio, Asko|Schoenberg, Ensemble MAZE, Roland Dahinden, Dick de Graaf, ElectraNewMusic, David Dramm, Wiek Hijmans, to name a few.

Since 2011 Micha is as principal teacher connected to the Art of Sound department of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
