Dutch National Opera Academy at Klassiek op het Amstelveld
Opera in the open air: during Klassiek op het Amstelveld, the Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA) joins forces with the Conservatorium van Amsterdam to perform Georg Philipp Telemann’s Pimpinone. This comic Baroque opera centres on the wealthy Pimpinone and his maid Vespetta. Pimpinone believes he has found the ideal wife in her, but the balance of power soon turns out to be very different.
With sharp dialogue, comic twists and colourful characters, Pimpinone explores the interplay between love, ambition and self-interest. The young singers of the Dutch National Opera Academy bring the story to life in the heart of the Amstelveld. Experience opera up close, in the open air and right in the centre of Amsterdam.
