One Minute Symphony
Composition students at the Royal Conservatoire write a One Minute Symphony for the Residentie Orkest, inspired by the theme Peace & Rights. Each work is connected to the programme of the concert and may draw on its context, a particular piece, a chord, a melody or the story behind the music.
As part of the project, the students meet with residents of The Hague. Their personal stories become the starting point for a musical miniature lasting exactly one minute. A few weeks later, each One Minute Symphony receives its premiere, performed by the Residentie Orkest in the Concertzaal of Amare.
On 2 April 2027, there will also be an XL edition of One Minute Symphony, featuring a new, larger-scale work by a Composition student from the Royal Conservatoire, written for the Residentie Orkest.
