On Sunday 12 December, De Tijd by Louis Andriessen was performed in the Kees van Baarenzaal. The performance, conducted by Manoj Kamps and played by a mix of musicians who also participated in the performance forty years ago and students of today, can be heard on Radio 4.
Jacqueline Oskamp, who is working on a biography of Louis Andriessen, attended the performance and wrote the following.
'On Sunday 12 December 2021, an unforgettable performance of De Tijd (1981) was played in the Kees van Baarenzaal in the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Louis Andriessen wrote the piece forty years ago for the opening of the newly completed new building at Juliana van Stolberglaan 1. Now, prior to the move to the Amare complex on Spui, musicians who participated forty years ago and students of today (where has the time gone?) join hands for a reprise. Conductor Manoj Kamps captivated the (because of corona) small audience: never before did De Tijd sound so crystal clear and overwhelmingly beautiful.' Read more (Dutch only)
